Awaken: A Poem About Stirring What Matters

Awaken

Shuffling through fitful scrawls of pointless haikus
Of random ransom notes from an existential shrug
Of meditation on the mundane and meaningless
Bothered by the obligation to even bother
When suddenly I’m reminded of the water-drop sound a raven makes
The way the air tasted that day, metallic and wet
Your gasp as I slipped on the summit rock
Awaken,
Some things still matter
